The installation cannot continue because the camera is not detected when installing the Picture Motion Browser software.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.
IMPORTANT:
Some software or hardware installations and changes require the user to be logged on as Administrator or with administrator rights when running on Microsoft Windows XP , Windows Vista or Windows 2000 Professional operating systems.
The Picture Motion Browser software may need to updated to the latest version. Information about the latest software and driver updates can be found at the Sony Support Web Site at http://esupport.sony.com.

1. Check that the USB cable is properly plugged into the terminal of the camera and the computer.

NOTE: For models that connect via the USB cradle (or Cyber-shot Station), check the connection of the USB cradle as well.

NOTES: Some computers have different USB controllers for each port. In this case, connecting to a different port may solve the problem.
Connect the USB cable directly to a USB port on the computer. Using a USB hub connection may cause the camera to not be recognized properly by the computer.

4. Ensure the recording media is inserted in the camera, otherwise the camera will not be recognized properly by the computer.
5. Check that camera is set properly in the menu use the USB connection.

NOTE: Some cameras must have the USB Connect option in the menu set to Normal or Mass Storage. For model-specific information, consult the instruction manual. Manuals are available online in the Manuals/Specs/Warranty section of the Sony® eSupport Web site.

6. Turn the camera off and then back on again; the computer cannot recognize the connection unless the camera is on.
7. Check if the operating system of your computer has been upgraded; operations are not guaranteed in an upgraded environment.
8. If the issue is not resolved, try installing the USB driver again following the steps below:

A. With the camera powered on and connected to the computer,

For Windows 98, 98SE and Me: Right-click My Computer, click Properties, and then click the Device Manager tab.

Picture Motion Browser Hangs in 50% while burning a DVD

For sony camera and camcorder user, there is a supplied software if you purchased an original and closed box Sony units. Most of the time we do have supplied software like Picture Motion Browser. Picture Motion Browser is editing software and can also be used in playing high definition videos because it has its own AVCHD player for high definition videos. It also has the capability to burn a dvd video. So for this concern about Picture Motion Browser (PMB) hangs in 50% percent while burning a dvd or cd’s, here are some troubleshooting that we need to check first.

1. Check System Requirements - OS version (Windows 2000, XP SP1 or SP2, VISTA Ultimate or Home, etc.)
2. Ask Available RAM (Memory) - Ideally customers should have a PC running with at least 256MB RAM.
3. There should not be any other Programs running in the Background - If there are other programs aside from the DVD authoring software running in the PC, this can cause sluggish PC performance and might cause PC to hang.
4. Ask if the Hard Disk is partitioned - When you copy a -RW (8 cm) disc to a -R (12 cm) disc, approximately 1.5 GB of free space is needed on your hard disk for temporary files. Depending on the capacity of the source disc, the free space required varies.
5. Try to change blank DVDs - The PC might have issues with blank DVDs that are not compatible with their DVD drive

I.LINk (IEEE 1394) connection from the camcorder is not recognized by the computer

Kindly read the article so that you can resolve the issue in connecting camcorder to your computer using an i.Link cable

Reminder: Some digital camcorders must be setup to output a signal through the i.LINK port prior to being connected to a computer. For sony devices, Instruction manuals are available in the fulfill your dreams and Camera usb and Vista connection help websites.

Check if the i.LINK cable is connected securely to the camcorder and computer. The camcorder is turned on and being powered by the supplied AC power adapter. Also, ensure the video capture card and software if they are configured properly to receive the i.LINK signal from the camcorder. Keep mind that it depends on the video capture card and software that you are using, you may need to manually configure the capture card and software to receive a signal from the i.LINK port. If it is applicable, please check the Help files of the software or contact the video capture card or software manufacturer for further information. Digital camcorders are not provided with and do not require special device drivers for i.LINK connectivity. The device drivers that allow i.LINK connectivity should be provided with the video capture software. If the software you are using does not appear to have the required drivers, you will need to contact the software manufacturer.
